African Lily Brilliant Blue
A relatively compact African lily cultivar, Agapanthus Brilliant Blue is a deciduous, clump-forming herbaceous perennial. The original African lilies come from South Africa, but are surprisingly hardy in our climate, the deciduous varieties being slightly hardier; nevertheless, a thick mulch will help them come through the winter in colder areas. The plant forms a clump of strap-shaped, mid-green leaves. From midsummer, rounded heads of wonderfully rich blue flowers with a deeper blue stripe rise on strong stems from the clump of leaves; the flowers are very attractive to bees. African lily Brilliant Blue is a great plant for repeating along the edge of a sunny border.
